We are at the beginning of an exciting time here at Manatee County Habitat for Humanity. Foundations for three new homes are being laid in the Palmetto Triangle. Additionally, one completed home is just weeks away from having a new owner. The “Palmetto Triangle” will be home to five families in total by this time next year. Without our amazing volunteers, who still do most of the hands-on labor, nothing would be finished!

Future first-time homebuyer of the completed home will be Army Veteran Terry. Terry was raised in Palmetto and chose to return here after years in the Army. He then opened Bibbins Tae Kwon Do; where he puts his army training to good use by teaching not only martial arts, but the value of education to his young students. He is over the moon, thinking about how close he is to affordable homeownership!

Loving Grandmother Blonetha, can’t wait to purchase her one bedroom, one bathroom dream home. We call this the “Home the Restore Built.’ Your shopping at and donations to the Manatee Restore are helping to fund the purchase of materials for Blonetha’s forever home!

Next door to Terry, Yvette and Jose will be purchasing a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home specially designed to help 20-year-old Jose live as independently as possible. Wider doors, combination bedroom/bathroom and even lower countertops will facilitate Jose’s needs. As this is our latest Interfaith Build many of the building blocks in the home will be signed by congregation members with prayers.

Working hard on her three hundred volunteer hours, widow, and mom of four, can’t wait to purchase a home for her family. Stephanie is looking forward to doing many of her volunteer hours on other homes within the Palmetto Triangle.

LaShawn’te works for Children First, is mom to three active kids and will be the last home buyer in the Palmetto Triangle. That’s OK with LaShawn’te as she is working on both her degree and her volunteer hours along with her full-time job and being mom to three! But she will have completed all the Manatee Habitat home buyer requirements by this time next year.
