At Manatee Habitat, our mission goes beyond building affordable homes—it’s about creating lasting stability for families and communities. With the recent challenges of severe hurricanes in our area, we recognized the need for a program to address the vulnerabilities of aging homes in Manatee County. This year, we’re launching the Storm Safe Home Renewal Program, an initiative designed to restore safety, comfort, and durability for homeowners in need.
What the Program Offers
In the past 10-15 years, we’ve made remarkable advancements in our construction techniques, integrating features like galvanized metal roofs, reinforced concrete walls, and hurricane-impact windows. Through this program, we’re offering these updates to older Habitat homes and to non-Habitat homeowners who qualify, ensuring that more families can weather storms safely and remain in their homes for years to come.
The Storm Safe Home Renewal Program provides two flexible solutions tailored to meet the needs of homeowners:
- Home Repair and Refinance
- 0% interest loans for critical home repairs, such as roofing, hurricane-impact windows, impact-resistant doors, plumbing, and electrical work.
- No upfront costs, with repayment terms of up to 30 years, ensuring accessibility for eligible homeowners.
- Home Repurchase

- An independent appraisal and home buyback at full appraised value, with cash provided within 30 days.
- Homes are repaired to current construction standards before being resold to new Habitat homeowners.
