Kings Cross Place Community
Kings Cross Place is Manatee Habitat’s newest and most ambitious community to date. Located just east of Oneco in Bradenton, this 27-home neighborhood will offer a mix of spacious 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom and 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom homes designed with sustainability, durability, and modern living in mind.
Every home in Kings Cross Place will be sold to a low-income family in Manatee County through an affordable mortgage. These homes are more than affordable—they are sustainable, helping homeowners save on monthly utility bills and long-term maintenance costs. On average, families will pay just $900 to $1,000 per month for a 30-year mortgage (not including taxes and insurance).
Home Details
This new community also features a modern, contemporary architectural redesign—a fresh departure from previous builds. For the first time in our affiliate’s history, each home will include an attached garage, offering two dedicated parking spaces per household. Kitchens will be more spacious, featuring central islands for gathering, and every home will include a screened-in back porch for added comfort and outdoor enjoyment.
Construction Highlights
- Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) block walls
- Galvanized metal roofs
- Hurricane impact windows and doors
- Spray foam attic insulation
- Hardie fiber cement siding
The Impact
Our future homeowners earn between 50% and 80% of the area’s median income and are hardworking families who simply need an opportunity. These homes empower them to:
- Live in safe, stable environments
- Spend less than one-third of their income on housing
- Practice financial planning and savings
- Invest in their families’ futures, such as education, transportation, or healthcare
Each home represents a foundation for long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
Land Acquisition: A Historic Gift
The land for Kings Cross Place was made possible by a landmark donation facilitated by RedElk Land Company, who aided in the acquisition of 27 residential lots totaling 11.07 acres—an appraised value of $2.32 million. This is the largest land donation in Manatee Habitat’s history.
Project Timeline
We’ve set an ambitious goal to build a minimum of 10 homes per year, with 15 homes projected for 2025 alone. To achieve this, we’ve developed a detailed construction timeline for the 27-home community. Groundbreaking and infrastructure development for the project will begin in May 2025, with construction on the first home scheduled to start in January 2026. From that point forward, a new home will be started each month, following a four-month construction cycle for each unit. By the end of 2026, 12 homes are expected to be completed, with all 27 homes finished by early 2028.
