At Manatee County Habitat for Humanity, every tool, every nail, and every board plays a vital role in building affordable homes for local families. Thanks to a generous $50,000 grant from the Bishop-Parker Foundation, our team now has a brand-new construction cargo van to help transport materials and equipment safely and efficiently to build sites across the county!

Why This Van Matters

Before this exciting upgrade, our construction team relied on an aging vehicle with over 300,000 miles on it—far past its prime. With ongoing construction and home rehabilitation projects, having a reliable, secure way to move tools and materials is essential. This new van ensures that everything needed to build and repair homes is transported safely, protected from the elements, and secured against theft and vandalism.

Building More Homes, Serving More Families

The impact of this grant extends far beyond just a new set of wheels. In the 2024/25 fiscal year alone, Manatee Habitat will construct three new homes on infill lots and rehabilitate at least two previously owned Habitat homes—providing stability and security for an estimated 15 individuals. Over the next decade, this investment will help us serve at least 185 individuals and 50 families, creating stronger communities through affordable homeownership opportunities.

A Partnership That Builds Stronger Communities

“This grant is a game-changer for our construction team,” said Bernie Quinn, President & CEO of Manatee Habitat. “Having a dedicated van will allow us to be more efficient in our efforts to provide safe, affordable housing to families in need while ensuring our equipment remains secure.”

This is not the first time the Bishop-Parker Foundation has stepped up to support Manatee Habitat’s mission. In 2021, they awarded us a $15,000 grant, and their continued generosity is making a lasting impact on affordable housing in Manatee County.

As housing affordability remains a challenge, Manatee Habitat is committed to expanding its reach to families earning between 50% and 80% of the area’s median income. With the help of community partners like the Bishop-Parker Foundation, we’re ensuring that hardworking families have a safe, stable place to call home.
