Interfaith Groundbreaking
Over fifty local Habitat Supporters and faith community members came together to turn the soil for the first time in preparation of our next Interfaith Build. The future owners, Yvette and her son Jose, were in attendance along with Board Members Roger Arnholt, Gary French and Michelle Grimsley.
Sheryl Boddy, Director of Community Programs, had the honor of introducing Yvette to the attendees. There was barely a dry eye in the audience after Yvette finished sharing how much this home will mean to Jose and herself. She can’t wait to do volunteer hours on her future home and is looking forward to getting to know all the volunteers.
Diana Shoemaker talked about our past relations with the Manatee County faith community and shared some of the special changes this home will have. The need to raise over $5000 for a special lift to aid Yvette in caring for her son brought an anonymous donation of half the funds by the end of the event!
When this home is completed, 20 year old Jose and his mom, Yvette, will have a home that meets their special needs and they will be able to live together for many years to come, all thanks to YOUR generous support of Manatee Habitat! Thank you to everyone who has and is helping with this project!
