Happy National Volunteer Month!
Every April, organizations across the country take time to honor the incredible individuals who give their time and energy to serve others—and at Manatee County Habitat for Humanity, we couldn’t be more grateful for the volunteers who make our mission possible.

Each month, our dedicated volunteers contribute an astounding 3,377 hours of service. With the national estimated value of a volunteer hour currently at $31.61, that means our volunteers provide over $106,000 worth of labor each month. That’s more than just numbers—it’s impact. Thanks to this generous contribution of time and talent, we’re able to keep construction costs low and build more homes for families in need, without relying heavily on contracted labor.
But the value of our volunteers goes far beyond dollars and cents. They are the heartbeat of Manatee Habitat—a family of loyal, kind, and passionate people who believe in giving back and building a stronger, more compassionate community. Their compassion is seen in every wall raised, every nail hammered, and every smile shared on a build site or in our ReStore.
In just the past two years, Manatee Habitat has dramatically scaled up our operations, growing from building 2 homes in 2022 to 15 homes in 2024. This incredible growth would not be possible without the unwavering dedication of our volunteers, who answered the call with even more time, energy, and love for the mission.
To every volunteer who has lifted a hammer, stocked a shelf, served on a committee, or simply lent a helping hand—thank you. Thank you for believing in our mission, for showing up, and for helping families in Manatee County build strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership.
We can’t wait to celebrate each and every one of you at our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner later this month. Until then, know how deeply appreciated and valued you are.
