Manatee County Habitat for Humanity has received a $15,000 grant from Bank of America in support of its 2027 Women Build campaign, helping provide a local mother and her children with a safe, affordable place to call home.

The grant will support construction of the 2027 Women Build home in Kings Cross Place, Manatee Habitat’s 27-home community featuring thoughtfully designed three- and four-bedroom homes. Through Women Build, women from all walks of life come together to help a local mother and her children achieve the stability, security and long-term benefits of affordable homeownership through fundraising, volunteering and community events.

“Partnerships like this make it possible for us to turn the dream of homeownership into a reality for local families,” said Emily Lane, Director of Development at Manatee County Habitat for Humanity. “We are grateful for Bank of America’s continued commitment to our mission and for this investment in our 2027 Women Build. Together, we are helping a mother build a foundation where her children can grow, thrive and look forward to a brighter future.”

A longstanding partnership building stronger communities

Bank of America has supported Manatee Habitat since 2004 through financial contributions and hands-on volunteerism. At least once a year, Bank of America employees participate in local Habitat build days, working alongside future homeowners and fellow community volunteers to help build affordable homes.

“When local organizations and businesses work toward the same goal, the whole community benefits,” said Jeff Crabtree, president, Bank of America Sarasota/Manatee. “Supporting Manatee Habitat is one way we invest in the long-term strength of our community by supporting affordable housing programs, and our teammates are proud to help build it.”

This local partnership is part of Bank of America’s longstanding commitment to affordable housing. For more than 30 years, the company has partnered with Habitat for Humanity International to help families build and improve places to call home. The global partnership has provided more than $75 million in support of Habitat’s work around the world. Bank of America was also recognized for its longstanding support at Habitat for Humanity International’s 50th anniversary conference.

Building more than homes

Access to safe, stable and affordable housing can have a lasting impact on families and future generations. Research has shown that stable housing contributes to improved family health, educational attainment and economic opportunity.

For children growing up in Habitat homes, the benefits can extend well into adulthood. Children raised in Habitat homes are twice as likely to attend college, highlighting how affordable homeownership can help create opportunities that extend beyond one generation.

Through Women Build, Manatee Habitat brings together individuals, businesses and community partners who share a commitment to helping local families achieve the dream of homeownership. From fundraising and volunteer build days to community events, every contribution helps make the campaign possible.
