We are thrilled to share that we’ve received a generous $50,000 grant from The Bishop-Parker Foundation! This impactful gift will underwrite the construction of a new home in Bradenton for Paula, a lifelong local and future Habitat homeowner whose journey to stability is nothing short of inspiring.

This is the third major gift from The Bishop-Parker Foundation to Manatee Habitat, bringing their total support since 2021 to an incredible $115,000. Their continued commitment is helping us tackle the housing crisis in Manatee County—one family, one home, one future at a time.
“We are so grateful to The Bishop-Parker Foundation for their continued commitment to building stronger communities through affordable homeownership,” said Bernie Quinn, CEO of Manatee County Habitat for Humanity. “Their investment in Paula’s future represents more than a house—it’s the gift of stability, dignity, and hope for generations to come.”
The Bishop-Parker Foundation was founded on the legacy of Edward and Lillian Bishop and Mary Parker, and their mission today is deeply rooted in improving lives throughout our community.
“We are proud to support the efforts of Manatee Habitat for Humanity that provide families with the stability and opportunity they deserve,” shared Wendy Deming, CEO of The Bishop-Parker Foundation. “This grant reflects our commitment to honoring our founders’ vision by empowering individuals like Paula to build a lasting foundation for their families.”
Meet Paula
Born and raised in East Bradenton, Paula has worked with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice since 1999. Her story is one of perseverance—overcoming years of financial hardship and even a period of homelessness while raising her family.
In 2020, Paula connected with Manatee Habitat and saw our Affordable Homeownership Program as her final chance to achieve the dream she’d held onto for decades. When applications reopened, she didn’t hesitate. Now, she’s officially on her way to becoming a first-time homeowner.
Her future home—a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house in Bradenton—is scheduled for completion in November 2025. Thanks to The Bishop-Parker Foundation’s support, Paula’s dream is within reach.
For Paula, this home is more than just a roof over her head. It’s a safe haven where her daughters and grandson can create memories, share meals, and thrive for years to come.
