Donnitra has spent the last 18 years serving the community through her work at the Manatee County Government. Despite her hard work, owning a home has remained a distant dream. Saving diligently over the years, she was hopeful about finally making it a reality. However, the soaring housing market prices shattered her hopes, pushing her further away from her goal of homeownership.
For over 15 years, Donnitra has rented her home, enduring the neglect of her old and deteriorating apartment. In the past 8 years at her current residence, the management has neglected to address the issues, leaving her in an unsafe and uncomfortable living environment. Her neighborhood’s frequent criminal activity, marked by regular police presence, has added to her concerns. As a single woman, returning to her apartment after dark fills her with fear, highlighting the urgent need for a safer and more permanent living situation.
With the support of Manatee Habitat, Donnitra’s dream of owning a home is finally within reach. For her, safety is paramount at this stage of her life, and achieving homeownership would not only provide security but also peace of mind.
