Sarah, a resilient and determined Manatee County native, is a mother of two daughters, and grandmother to six grandchildren. Over the years she has devoted herself to raising her children and grandchildren without ever having the opportunity to own a home. Before retiring, Sarah worked as a nurse assistant for 18 years, courageously serving our community. In 2023, Sarah reached out to Manatee Habitat in hopes of receiving critical repair assistance. Though the repair program was no longer available, Sarah’s resilience led her to inquire about homeownership.
With the support of her daughter LaWanda, Sarah applied for the homeownership program and underwent the interview process, eventually being accepted into the program. For Sarah, this acceptance represents more than just a chance to own her first home; it’s a symbol of hope and stability after years of uncertainty.
