Manatee County Habitat for Humanity is partnering with the local Faith Community to build a new home for Teresa and her son, Brandon. Teresa will be purchasing this home with a 0% interest loan after completing the Home Buyer Program.
Join us in Building Hope
Over the years we’ve built homes with local Lutheran, Methodist and Presbyterian churches. Last year, we brought together many denominations from Manatee County for our 2022 Faith Build. That home was purchased by Yvette who moved in with her son, Jose.
We hope you will prayerfully consider joining us in this build in any way that is meaningful to your congregation. Financial contributions will enable us to purchase the necessary materials and volunteer support of all kinds will help us complete the task of providing an opportunity for affordable home ownership.
Meet Teresa and Brandon
Teresa is a referral and care coordinator with a local medical clinic and her son, Brandon, is is an ambitious and self-motivated 9th-grader who aspires to become an engineer.
Unsatisfied with her current apartment and landlords, Tereasa set out to find a home that would bring her family a senseof stability and belonging.
She first reached out to Manatee Habitat in February 2018 after hearing about our program from another Habitat homeowner. Having missed the open application period, she kept reaching out year after year until she finally got aninterview. And in February 2022, she was accepted into the program.
As Teresa and Brandon approach their closing day, they are both dreaming of everything that having a home will allow them to do. They can’t wait to grow their family by adopting a dog which isn’t permitted in their current apartment. Teresa is also excited for Brandon to bring his friends over and be proud of the place that they call home.
Most of all, she looks forward to not having to worry about the rising rental market and what that will mean for her ability to make ends meet financially.
