Manatee Habitat is partnering with women (we welcome men to get involved as well) in the community to build a home for Sherline, a single mother, and her two children. Please join us in fundraising, building, and event planning yearlong to get Sherline and her family into their home.

Led by Sarah, an experienced roofer, Team Hard Hats is a group of determined and skilled individuals ready to tackle any construction challenge thrown their way. With their trusty hard hats on and their sleeves rolled up, Team Hard Hats is prepared to build a sturdy and reliable home for Manatee Habitat’s 2024 Women Build project.

2024 Women Build Wall Raising Day
We’re kicking off construction and raising the walls on our 2024 Women Build Home! Join us on Saturday, June 8th for a fun morning of house building and getting dirty!
Use the ‘Volunteer Sign Up’ link below to sign up for one of the two morning shifts.
- Shift 1 will work from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
- Shift 2 will work from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
From 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., we will all come together for a mid-morning break to enjoy sweet treats and snacks. There are only 15 spots available for each shift, so sign up fast!

2024 Women Build Homebuyer, Jennifer’s Story
Jennifer is not only a resilient single mother and a dedicated healthcare professional, but she is also pursuing a degree in health administration. Faced with significant challenges after her divorce in 2022, she moved to Manatee County with her mother, determined to provide a safe and stable environment for her unborn daughter. Despite working full-time as a healthcare case manager, the soaring rental prices posed a barrier to her goal.
Through the support of Help to Home transitional living, she secured a room in August 2023 and diligently saved in her emergency fund under her case manager’s guidance. However, the high cost of homeownership remained out of reach until she applied to Manatee Habitat. Grateful for the opportunity, Jennifer looks forward to finally providing her daughter, Sadie, with a secure and affordable home where they can thrive together. She has already started working toward completing her partnership hours at the construction site and can’t wait to build her new home alongside our amazing Women Build committee members!
