What goes into building a Manatee Habitat house? Well first, there is the need for land. We have worked with the City of Bradenton to purchase infill properties within the city limits. The 6th Street Court East house is our 11th house being built on infill property group within the city limits. Second, are the building materials that need to be purchased. Third, is the actual hands work from on digging foundations to installing the metal roofs and everything in between!

So, how many volunteer hours are donated before a house is finished, purchased and becomes a family home? On average it’s 3,905 hours per house. The Florida Nonprofit Association for Resource Management values each volunteer hour this year at $25.43 which means the volunteer investment for each house we build is valued at $99,298.00!

Even with Covid 19 slowing our work schedule down and many volunteers isolating at home, we still had 430 hard working volunteers who logged 15,180 volunteers hours between July 1,2019 and June 30, 2020!

If you would like to join our volunteer force, we have room for everyone! Or if you want to make a monetary donation, we would love your help! Without you, we can’t continue our mission of safe, affordable housing for everyone!
